Annabelle was really found in a field. It's interesting how the rest of her story was
uncovered. As I got to know her I found other people that had known her, too. They told me bits and pieces and I was
able to put it together.
I even have her original "papers" from when
she was first sold! Her papers have a long fancy name on them. But on them is the name "Anne." When I met her
I was told folks called her "Belle." So I put the two together to represent a "new" life for her and called
her "Annabelle." Sometimes we call her "Bunny" because she can actually do a bit of a "bucking"
thing that makes her, with her big draft horse ears, almost look like a very big bunny rabbit!
Annabelle really did need to go to the hospital after she was found. She had
problems with her stomach. She had surgery and the doctor helped her.
But sometimes when things are neglected for long periods of time problems happen that
are not easy to solve. Like if you did something silly like not brush your teeth for six years... it might take the dentist
more than one visit to take care of your teeth!
Annabelle had problems with her stomach and her feet. It took some time to figure
out all the reasons why. But we didn't give up. And she really did wear pink slippers!
Annabelle and her friend, Passion the percheron, have also learned how to paint!
But that's another story...
